
William A. “Bill” Russell, age 82, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at his home. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
William A. “Bill” Russell was born December 29, 1935, in Parkin, Arkansas to Claudia and Al Russell. In 1953, at the age of 17, Bill entered the Marines and honorably served until June 1956 attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Bill lived a full life working in his younger years as a graphic artist and then later as an air conditioning repair mechanic. In retirement, Bill discovered a passion for writing. He wrote several fiction novels and short stories, a memoir of his father’s life, and for the past few years, he contributed weekly articles to The Plainsman newspaper.
In 2010, Bill met the love of his life, Norelle Bartel and they were married in June 2011.
Although Bill grew up in San Diego and lived much of his life in the Nevada and Southern California deserts, he loved living his last few years on the plains of South Dakota.
Bill is survived by his wife, Norelle; his brother, Dave; his daughters, Amy, Nancy, Becky and Jennifer; his bonus children, Roger, Cindy, Ted, Mel, Dale, Nita, Toby and Wendi; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
